IPA [a] is front, not central. Perhaps the linguist is using [ɑ] to indicate a central vowel closer to back than front. --Ptcamn 04:16, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, /ɑ/ should be in the back column. Open front unrounded vowel has a low central vowel as [ä]. Would that be a good alternative? AEuSoes1 05:15, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
